Margaret
Nell “Margie” (Mitchamore)
Chessher, 79, entered
Heaven at 6:20 am Tuesday, January
27, 2009, at her home in Timpson,
Texas. She was born November 14,
1929.
Visitation
will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00
pm, Wednesday, January 28 at Watson
& Sons Funeral Home in Center.
Funeral services will be held
at 2:00 pm, Thursday, January
29 at Watson & Sons Chapel
with Rev. Chandler Pettis and
Bro. Donnie Casper officiating.
Interment will follow at Weaver
Cemetery in Timpson.
She
is the wife of Pastor and long-time
Shelby County businessman Earl
C. Chessher, Sr. Margie and Earl
were married 62 years, having
celebrated their anniversary December
25, 2008.
She
was a full-time wife, mother,
grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to being a homemaker
she had worked for Shelby County
General Hospital, Tyson, and was
a top Avon representative for
more than 20 years having received
numerous awards for outstanding
sales.
Margie
was in the company of her husband
and children, and many family
members and friends in her final
hours. She was assured of their
love for her, and assured they
of hers. It was a time of great
importance to her family, and
to the woman who often said, “all
I ever wanted was to love and
be loved.” She did, and
was.
Margie
excelled at many things but especially
in working kitchen magic and in
keeping alive the memories of
her many hospital patients in
her garden of love. Many a pastor
and visiting evangelist, during
Margie’s church life, has
announced
from the pulpit experiencing “heavenly
delight” while eating her
cherry pie. Her garden’s
humble beginnings were from plants,
sprouts, cuttings and seedlings
given in appreciation by hospital
patients and family, that grew
to “more than 534 plants”
she said. Margie’s garden
eventually required four major
greenhouse expansions, and each
plant had its story. Margie would
unfailingly share them with anyone
who would listen.
As
a pastor’s wife at The Called
Out Church, Center, Texas, Margie
served as attendance secretary,
and often assisted Pastor Chessher
in his regular services and special
ministries. Margie was as fully
dedicated to her Lord’s
service as she was to family.
Margie,
longtime Alzheimer’s victim,
was often known to be outspoken
of rules, scriptures and opinions.
Before declining health prevented
her regular attendance, she would
share many relevant and unencumbered,
often unexpected, expressions
of her insights to the congregation.
Margie
is survived by husband, Pastor
Earl C. Chessher, Sr. of Timpson.
Also five children: Earl C. Chessher,
Jr. of Huntington Beach, California,
Clarence Thomas Chessher of Timpson,
Philda Nell Adams and husband
Steve of Timpson, Jacquelyn Ellen
Fountain and husband Donny of
Center and Cecil Duane Chessher
and wife Gina of Tenaha; 13 grandchildren,
and 17 great-grandchildren.
She
is also survived by four sisters:
Deloris Gilbert and husband Ken
of Arkansas, Doris Hambrick and
husband Robert, Nancy Brown, Dixie
Jacob and husband James, and one
brother, David Mitchamore and
wife Bea, all of Texas. Also,
a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law,
church family and friends.
Margie
has always loved, and she will
always be loved.
