Last week I attended a workshop
in Huntington on website design
and maintenance. I may have
been the oldest in attendance
but I was certainly the most
enthusiastic. As in most workshops
for adults, I had information
overload by 11:00 a.m. and afterwards
learned nearly as much during
the breaks as I did in the formal
presentation. Librarians love
to share what they are doing
in their to start an ESL program
for non-English speakers, literacy
program for non library. I always
come back excited and want -readers,
game night for teenagers, bridge
lessons for young couples, book
clubs, and computer literacy
for seniors.
The reality of the day and
what is required to keep all
computers/printers functioning,
scanner and fax working, new
books on shelves, and assisting
library users comes crashing
in after the first day back.
This is when we really wish
we had volunteers interested
in either raising money for
the library or willing to coordinate
a new program. If you might
be one of those people willing
to spare a little time, please
contact us as 936-598-5522.
