The
Center High School Class of 1929 met
at T & R's Steaks and More on
October 17th to celebrate their 80th
reunion. The 1929 graduates present
were Mattie Dellinger, age 98, and
Kate Kimbro, age 97. Not able to attend
the reunion was Jack Barron, age 96
and Charles Poston, age 98 of Port
Arthur. According to Mattie, Charles
Poston is the oldest living alumni
of Center ISD and will turn 99 in
January of 2010.
A special guest, Susie Nelson, the
daughter of Willie Nelson, also attended
the reunion. The theme for the reunion
was the 'Roaring 20s'. Dr. Hooker
lead the group in 1920's songs. Colleen
Doggett dressed up in flapper attire
and a wig in the fashion of Colleen
Moore, an American film actress, and
one of the most fashionable stars
of the silent film era. After the
reunion Mattie and Kate were carried
by Susie Nelson's limo to the parade
and all three were special guests
invited to attend the Class of 1959
reunion.
Plans for the 81st reunion were also
made. Susie Nelson plans to bring
two musicians from Willie's band to
play for the group while Susie sings.
Mattie also attended the Alumni meeting
which was held Saturday morning. She
stated that she has never missed a
meeting and was one of the first organizers
for the Homecoming plans. Mattie fondly
remembers planning several of the
1953 Homecoming activities that was
to help raise money to buy new uniforms
for the band.

High School Class of 1966 Holds 43rd
Reunion - October 19,
2009 Submitted by Jim Ross
The THS Class of 1966 had a great
turn out for their 43rd reunion held
Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Good
Hope Baptist Church Fellowship Hall
in the Blair community. Spouses, teachers,
and friends joined the 25 graduates
as more than sixty people attended.
The reunion started at 1:00 pm with
a lot of reminiscing, visiting, and
looking at old pictures. Later in
the afternoon a tour of the high school
was led by Pat Crawford, a THS teacher.
Everyone enjoyed seeing the classrooms
where they once sat and talking about
the different teachers. All were impressed
with the renovations, additions and
the new sports complex. A group picture
was taken on the front steps of the
high school and another back at the
fellowship hall.
