FFA Announces 2009-2010 Officers -

 Shelbyville
FFA is proud to announce its 2009-2010
officers. Bailee Wilburn, President,
Katie Rash, Vice President, Jessica
Thompson, Secretary, Haley Oswalt,
Treasurer, Morgan Miller, Reporter,
and Robert Bloys, Sentinel. This year
we have 42 members. Shelbyville members
plan to attend various activities
and trips this year, and also will
be selling meat and fruit. Our meat
sell ends September 30th, and if anyone
would like to purchase any meat please
contact Gary McCann at Shelbyville
High School. Our fruit sell will begin
in October and end early November.

On Friday, September
18, 2009, smiles and gowns sparkled
as the Shelbyville High School Homecoming
Queen candidates and Duchesses made
their way down the track. The Queen
Candidates and Duchesses were (left
to right) Katie Joe Stout-Freshman,
Bree Vaughn-Freshman, Britni Cooper-Sophomore,
Briley Boren-Senior, JaKuala McClelland-Senior,
Kim Vaughn-Senior, Katie Cox-Sophomore,
Jade Hagler-Junior, and Natalea Wilburn-Junior.
After the introduction of all the
girls, the long awaited announcement
of our 2009 Homecoming Queen was made,
and Briley Boren was crowned our queen
by the 2008 queen, Monica Holloway.
Briley was escorted by her father,
Matt Boren. Kindergarten student Eli
Taylor was the crown bearer. Eli is
the son of Karen and Michael Bill
Taylor.

The
Student Voice at S.W. Carter Elementary,
in Shelbyville, recently sponsored "Put
a Cap on Drugs" Day. Students who
wanted to wear a cap donated twenty-five
cents to The Rainbow Room. The money
collected was used to purchase a car
seat which will be given to a child
in the care of Child Protective Services.
Accepting the gift are Shelby County
Community Partners Board members, Alice
Pate and Joan Cole.
